The long awaited release of the newest installment to the Need for Speed (NFS) series is here and it most certainly does not disappoint. This installment reduces the role of the fine police department but introduces team management and much needed variation to your typical car racing game. The wait lasted a little less than one year and then the word on everyone's lips was Carbon. Whatever you unlock in the Career mode gets unlocked in the quick race mode too so you can choose the available car and customize it with unlocked parts and have some fun.Īfter the success of Need for Speed Most Wanted, the gaming world was left to anticipate what would be next. This is kind of cheating ) Even though street racing doesnt fetch big money it does fetch some unique upgrades for you if you win. When you pass the incoming opponent it thinks you are now going away from him and tries to brake and again follow you but this takes some time and by then you win the race.
If you have created some gap but it's not growing then make a sudden U turn by using the handbrake and head towards the opponent. Otherwise it can become really difficult to lose the opponent. In most cases the opponent will catch up to you and you will have to make sudden turns to lose him or make him make the mistake of crashing into the turn or going on a wrong path. Street race is won or lost by creating a certain gap between you and your opponent and this can be sometimes challenging. AI seems to work beautifully here and the opponent will make some quick and confusing turns to lose you. If they get ahead of you they can be really smart. The most difficult part of the game is not the marked races but the street racing with opponents you find while roaming in the city. This takes some excitement away from the game. There were few races in NFSU1 that were very very hard to win but almost every race except a few drag races is easy to win in NFSU2. Most of the times you will find yourself cruising in first place rather than battling for places. Even if you screw up and crash and lose your first place or fall behind, it's really easy to again catch up to the other cars. Its very easy to move to first place and hold on to it.
But from my experience selecting any one doesnt change difficulty much. In career mode there are 3 difficulty modes, easy, medium and hard. But the unlock information SMS are accurate. They are not accurate and many times it will tell you something you have already found out and some basic tips really deep into game when you already know those. There is new SMS notification feature which will give you tips on new races, unlocks and store location so pay attention to them. Countless combinations of car color, decals, rims, mirrors, roof scopes, spoilers, vinyl's lets you customize your ride as you like it and can bring out the creative side of you. You can really pimp out your ride with the various combinations, limited only by your imagination. The car customization is the fun part of the game. They are unlocked as you progress in the store.
You have to purchase the parts from money earned from racing and not all parts are unlocked. You can now add some cool stuff like engine neons, customized boot (trunk), music system, hydraulics and car dials to really pimp out your ride. You simply cannot move into store and take what you want.
